When we capture a new Pokemon, it has a specific nature. Usually, we want to see first the base stats of the Pokemon we want or have.
In order to know which one should you pick, you consider the highest stat of your Pokemon and the access it has to Physical or Special moves.
But also keep in mind that this relies on your team structure, because you might want to have a lot of damage with one Pokemon, but then another one must be really fast in order to attack first.
